Mason is a great teacher, very patient and confident. I have learnt a lot, moreover, he was working with each of us personally and always explained why you do need to do this and should not to do this when I did mistakes! It was awesome! I definitely will recommend him and participate in his workshops!

I had a great day out with Mason guiding on some classic multi-pitch routes on Mt Tibrogargan. Mason proved to be entertaining, informative and highly professional and tailored the day's experience to suit my climbing standard and ambition. With previous experience in abseiling and climbing I was looking at a career change and wanting to become an outdoor guide. When looking for course’s it was suggested I contact climbing guides Australia, after contacting them I signed up for the Outdoor leader guide course for natural surfaces. The format of the course was well structured and delivered in a friendly and enjoyable environment. The skills I gained not only taught me how to be an outdoor guide but improved my skills in all aspects of abseiling and climbing. Since finishing my course I haven’t looked back and am now working for a number of outdoor education companies running climbing and abseiling groups and loving it, I have just completed my practical work for my artificial surfaces course. Given the techniques and systems Mason taught me has saved my life twice, I cannot recommend him more highly. The transition from indoor to outdoor climbing is challenging- made even more so by having to learn core skills such as cleaning anchors, how to rappel safely when you’ve dropped your ATC 100m off the deck on a multi-pitch climb and how to use your prusik. Mason taught my husband and I systems of how to stay safe. He gave us check points to use at key transitions which when implemented every time you climb will keep you alive when you’ve forgotten to thread your rope to the anchor when cleaning at the end of a long day’s climbing - which I have done twice. We have done 3 courses with him as our climbing skills have progressed and I always leave with confidence that I can replicate the skills and that I have a plan B when things don’t go as we wanted. Abseiling with Mason In August 2019 I decided to tour around the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Seeing photos of the area, I decided to do abseiling. I schedule a half-day tour with Mason. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. The day turned out to be an incredible experience. Not only the weather played its part, but also the scenery was unbelievable. Above all, was the abseiling experience. As someone with minimal experience in abseiling, I ended going down a 50-metre cliff and a few more small walls. Mason came well equipped and prepared. Not only his attention to details, explanations, and emphasis on safety and fun were impeccable, his knowledge of the area, history, and culture made the day more enjoyable. Not only I felt safe each moment of the day; I enjoyed it and learned a lot. Going out there, going down those walls, the scenery, and the company, made me feel alive. Mason’s contribution to this experience was invaluable! I would highly recommend this experience and Mason to anyone visiting the area and wants something different; a truly unique experience.

A few months back, I decided that it was time for me to finish what I had started and complete my top rope and abseil guide award. With one quick phone call to Mason, he was able to easily guide me through with what I needed to do while providing me with an achievable time frame to do it in. His enthusiasm and passion over the phone even managed to convince my other half to do her Intro course to climbing. That day, we both received our online learning which was very informative and easy to follow. Fast forward 3 weeks and we were both Abseiling 40m down the side of Timbeerwah. What an experience! We can’t thank Mason and his partner Lisa enough for their endless knowledge and fantastic hospitality. A full 5 stars for Climbing Guides Australia!
